THE HISTORY OF WEST BROMWICH

Despite its close proximity, the market town of West Bromwich is not actually in the city of Birmingham itself. Instead, it falls within the metropolitan borough of Sandwell and metropolitan county of West Midlands. Lying 6 miles to the Northwest of Birmingham city centre, West Bromwich historically was part of the county of Staffordshire and is now part of the area fondly known as the Black Country.
