CONVEYANCING SOLICITORS
IN OLDHAM

Manchester is separated into ten metropolitan boroughs all within the Northwest of England. The ten distinct boroughs are Bury, Rochdale, Bolton, Stockport, Tameside, Wigan, Trafford, Salford, Manchester City Centre and Oldham. The latter, Oldham is on the Eastern most edge of the city and is also less densely populated than the neighbouring boroughs of Manchester City and Salford. If you are considering a home move in the Manchester area, our Conveyancing Solicitors in Oldham have the skills and experience necessary to make the process as smooth as possible for you.

Oldham – a popular place to live

Manchester is regularly voted one of the top places to live and work in the North of England. Its former industrial past gives rise to a wide variety of architecture and the influx of students and young professionals has meant the city now has an eclectic night life and social scene along with a good range of different housing stock. The area of Oldham is one of the most popular areas of Greater Manchester and it is easy to understand its appeal.

In the first instance, Oldham’s location gives residents a good combination of city, suburban and a more rural life. Oldham is on the border of Lancashire and is considered the “Gateway to the Pennines”. The rivers Medlock and Irk also border the borough of Oldham, along with the borough being home to picturesque Saddleworth. The area features good transport links into Manchester City Centre, by road, tram, rail or bus and Oldham is close to major motorways and also Manchester Airport if you want to get out of the city.

Oldham became a prominent town during the 19th Century due to the rise of the textile industry in the region, notably the Oldham mills were the most productive in the world, and the borough remains popular today. Crime rates are lower than other areas of Manchester and house prices are also lower and more affordable than neighbouring boroughs. Housing stock is varied and so offers a good mix of homes regardless of what you are looking for. Whilst some regeneration has already taken place, there are further plans to regenerate Oldham all of which increase its appeal.

For families, the area has approximately 40 primary schools and 17 secondary schools, the majority of which are rated Good by Ofsted. In addition, the area offers many leisure and retail options including Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre and also Tommyfields Market. The Shopping Centre is one such place earmarked for regeneration in the near future and many of the major names in retail will be opening stores here if they have not already done so.
